Kinetic Typography 2

For my next assignment, we were assigned to choose a pinnacle moment in a book and translate it into motion using our program of choice. I chose one of my favourite passages from one of my favourite books and movies; The Count of Monte Cristo.

I chose this because as much as I love the movie, I also love what the author is saying:

“Life is a storm, my young friend. You will bask in the sunlight one moment, be shattered on the rocks the next. What makes you a man is what you do when that storm comes. You must look into that storm and shout as you did in Rome. Do your worst, for I will do mine! Then the fates will know you as we know you”
― Alexandre DumasThe Count of Monte Cristo

I find it amazing to read old books (first published in 1844, whoa!) and still find the relevance to it in 2016. If you haven’t read the book, I suggest the unabridged edition (although it is super long) but worth the read and watch the movie! Classic tale of betrayal and revenge, at its finest!

 Here is  my final edit:

After some feedback, I definitely want to refine this piece just a little bit more. Maybe do a little something with the word “storm” and “sunlight” fonts. For the animations with the full sentences, I would probably break it up even more and focus on each word and do a separate animation.

Hmmm… ideas brewing! Creative juices flowing!
